If you are like me, you missed the "Pokemon" revolution. When we think of being innovative as health clubs and fitness programs, we tend to think of new technology, cardio machines, and group x classes. Once in a while, however, an idea pops up that makes us wonder "what else might be possible?".
A new gym in Japan is set to open on November 19th, and it is a Pokemon gym. The gym features interactive video games, will have an accompanying mobile app, and even for a non-pokemon fan, looks pretty darn cool! To visit the gyms website click here.
To me, this is great inspiration to what we can do to impact the obesity epidemic among children. Instead of trying to convince them that traditional gym activities are fun, why not take something they already love, and integrate it into the gym experience? My 3 and 5 year old would absolutely love a "Wild Krats gym" or a "Dora the Explorer Gym"! This is a great example of thinking outside the box! What will be next?
